Ulm University Hospital is the youngest of the four university hospitals in Baden Wurttemberg in the south of Germany. It stands for excellent patient care, modern research and attractive teaching.
The Department of Gastroenterology provides an outstanding expertise on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) reflected by a vivid out patients’ clinic. Whereas the Department of Dermatology and Allergy has an own division for treatment and research of inflammatory skin diseases like psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
Both Departments cooperate tightly with the Department of Rheumatology in the local Center for Personalized Medicine - Immune-Mediated Diseases (ZPMi). The ZPMi Ulm targets an improvement of diagnostic and therapy of patients with autoimmune diseases through consistent interdisciplinary cooperation, working across with the other Baden Wurttemberg university hospitals in Tübingen, Freiburg and Heidelberg.
Within the ZPMi project a Molecular Inflammation Board (MEB) was established. Besides biobanking of blood and tissue for future research a wide range of immunological and genetic tests are performed to make decision on individual treatments, yet.
Role within ImmUniverse
UUlm will support the project on ulcerative colitis and atopic dermatitis with advanced biosampling in work package 6.
