First data presented from ImmUniverse prospective study

Florian Tran of ImmUniverse partner Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel just recently presented first data from the cohort of ulcerative colitis patients taking part in the prospective study of ImmUniverse at the Digestive Disease Week 2022 that took place in San Diego, California.

A major insight is that many patients with chronic inflammatory diseases report severe fatigue, a state of chronic exhaustion without physical exercise, before treatment and still for many under therapy. Concluding from these insights, fatigue is an important symptom that should be considered to be included as novel clinical treatment goals in ulcerative colitis, especially as it heavily affects private and work life. This would be a start to place greater emphasis on all aspects of a patient’s life that Inflammatory Bowel Diseases impacts upon.

Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) is the world’s leading educational forum for academicians, clinicians, researchers, students and trainees working in gastroenterology, hepatology, GI endoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery and related fields. DDW 2022 featured over 300 sessions and more than 2,000 oral abstract and ePoster presentations. The DDW brought together physicians, researchers and other industry professionals to exchange knowledge, formulate ideas and uncover new ways to improve the lives of those living with digestive diseases.
